WI Pro How do I see IT in everyday life?

It’s hard to think everyday life without IT. Alarm clock is an actual application on mobile phone, morning news are streamed straight from Internet to TV. On your daily way to work there is time to catch up the latest updates on podcasts. And it has been just the first hour of the day! Working in IT sector obviously includes working with computers. IT creates possibilities to work also with our more distant colleagues. Morning meetings might have people from Helsinki, Oulu, Ostrava and Pune at a regular day. It has brought everybody a little bit closer to each other.

What my current work is about?

I am currently working as a Project Manager on deployment and development of projects as well as participating in our HCM Cloud unit development. As PM the key thing is to keep up with the plans and budgets. Those are based on the methodologies such as Agile, Waterfall, or more vendor specific approach as SAP ASAP, SAP Launch or Workday Accelerated Deployment Methodology. Creating plans and following things is not of course dictator job. It is all about doing together in teams. In everyday life I am contacting several people to make sure our deliveries will succeed. I think that the main thing is to keep people happy in customer, our and partners side.

What does WI at Work mean to me?

WI taught me really to think about business processes and IT systems together. WI is about understanding systems holistically: having the Business people, IT and advisors to ensure the most suitable solution for the customer. WI program gave me tools to analyse the issues and to convert them in to requirements. In WI program there were courses to do imaginary or real  IT projects as well as analysing development of massive IT projects. These courses have given a solid ground to start professional career.

Me and my future

I have been working on SAP ERP world for some years. Now and near future my ideas and thoughts are in the Cloud - especially HCM Cloud. I think AI, Cloud computing, Big data and Internet of Things are shaping our world and will change the way we see our lives. Still it is all about the connection between people.
